WILL SMITH E LO SCHIAFFO – UN MESE DOPO

A un mese dopo lo scioccante accaduto, lo schiaffo di Will Smith a Chris Rock continua a fare scalpore ad Hollywood….e in tutto il mondo.

Ripercorriamo insieme le tappe della vicenda.

L’INIZIO DELLA FINE

Tutto è iniziato nella notte del 27 marzo 2022, durante la 94^ edizione degli Oscar, Will Smith colpisce con uno schiaffo il comico Chris Brown,  in reazione ad una battuta su sua moglie Jada Pinkett Smith. Presentando il premio per il miglior documentario, Chris Brown allude ad un’analogia tra Jada Pinkett Smith e il film del 1997 G.I. Jane, nel quale la protagonista interpretata da Demi Moore, si rade a zero.

Will Smith spiega, in un tweet di scuse del giorno dopo, che ha reagito in maniera istintiva, travolto dalle emozioni, perché non ha potuto sopportare il fare comicità sulle condizioni di salute di sua moglie, che soffre appunto di alopecia. Oltre alle scuse e alla tentata apologia, Will Smith auto-condanna il suo atto di violenza ingiustificata e condivide tutto il suo rammarico per quanto accaduto. Ma questo non basta. Hollywood e l’intero mondo restano indignati di fronte a un atto così spropositato e assolutamente anacronistico. E così, la stessa notte in cui Will Smith riceve l’Oscar come migliore attore per King Richard, si trasforma per lui nell’inizio della fine.

IL PROVVEDIMENTO DELL’ACADEMY

In seguito alle dimissioni spontanee dell’attore, il 9 aprile il board dei governatori annuncia che Will Smith è bandito dall’Academy Award per 10 anni. Questo significa che l’attore non potrà a partecipare a nessuno degli eventi organizzati dall’Academy per un decennio.  In altre parole, potrà essere nelle nomination o vincere un riconoscimento, ma un delegato o rappresentante dovrà ritirare il premio al suo posto. L’Academy ha definito il suo “un comportamento violento e inaccettabile” e si è scusata per non aver reagito adeguatamente durante la diretta.

IL FUTURO CINEMATOGRAFICO IN SOSPESO

Lo schiaffo ha colpito gravemente anche i progetti cinematografici futuri di Will Smith. Netflix ha rallentato i lavori dell’actionthriller Fast& Loose. Anche Bad Boys 4 è stato bloccato dopo quanto è accaduto al Dolby Theatre. Pare che tutto sia in sospeso in attesa che il polverone alzatosi sull’ex Principe di Bel Air lasci spazio alla chiarezza.

UNO SCHIAFFO CHE COSTA CARO

Nel vortice di ripercussioni che il famigerato schiaffo ha messo in moto, quelle dal prezzo più caro sono probabilmente quelle familiari. Come Jada Smith ha dichiarato, l’intera famiglia è stata stravolta dall’accaduto. Le notizie degli ultimi giorni parlano ormai chiaramente di divorzio tra Will e Jada Smith, o meglio di “ uno dei peggiori divorzi di sempre”. Al momento, la famiglia si riserva un momento di “guarigione” condivisa dopo le turbolenze delle ultime settimane.

Nel frattempo, l’opinione pubblica è divisa tra chi condanna aspramente il gesto violento di Will e chi sostiene che rovinargli la carriera non sia la risposta più adeguata ed efficace ad un accaduto del genere.
