Santa Lucia: come viene festeggiata?

In molte zone d’Italia e del Nord Europa, il giorno di Santa Lucia, che cade il 13 dicembre, è una festività davvero importante anche se non viene festeggiate in tutte le zone d’Italia.

Buongiorno amici di radiolocaliditalia.it, sapete che giorno è oggi? Oggi è il 13 dicembre ovvero il giorno di Santa Lucia. Probabilmente molti di voi non sanno di che festività si tratta, per cui oggi andiamo a parlarne un pò.

Infatti, nonostante non sia particolarmente conosciuta in alcune regioni d’Italia, in questo giorno si celebra una delle figure di maggior impatto del Cristianesimo, tradizionalmente accostata al ritorno della luce nel mondo dopo il buio dell’inverno. Ovviamente parliamo di Santa Lucia.

Le origini della tradizione

Lucia era una ragazza di Siracusa che visse tra la fine del III e l’inizio del IV secolo.

La giovane, vergine e cristiana, era promessa in sposa ad un pagano. Quando però un’apparizione divina le rivelò il suo destino, Lucia decise di affidare la propria anima a Dio e iniziò a regalare tutti i propri averi ai poveri.

Il promesso sposo, furioso per questa decisione, la denunciò come cristiana e durante il processo, di fronte alla fermezza di Lucia nel mantenere il suo proposito, fu condannata dal tribunale.

Il giorno di Santa Lucia

Ripetiamo che il giorno in cui si festeggia Santa Lucia è il 13 dicembre che prima della riforma gregoriana coincideva con il solstizio d’inverno, ovvero il giorno più corto dell’anno.

In questo modo la Luce della Fede portata ai fedeli da Santa Lucia veniva a combaciare con la luce solare che ogni anno torna a farsi più forte proprio dal giorno dopo il solstizio d’inverno!

Una tradizione e un giorno che viene festeggiato a Siracusa, dove Lucia nacque, in Trentino e nelle province di Bergamo, Brescia, Cremona, Lodi, Mantova, Piacenza, Parma, Reggio Emilia, Udine e Verona, dove i bimbi si addormentano nella speranza di svegliarsi e trovare un sacco di doni!
